Imbalance is created when the center of rotation of a rotating assembly differs from its' center of gravity. All rotating equipment can develop an unbalanced condition which, if left unchecked, can cause the equipment to fail. Unbalance of equipment rotors is the most common cause of excessive vibration, which leads to wasted power, bearing damage, and unscheduled down time.
